Sleeping Dragons

Classic Good Girl Syndrome (CGGS) is when a person follows the path most traveled by others not looking to make a fuss, step out of line or lose the illusion of daily comforts that come with staying in check. In my ten+ years of offer healing work, I've come to understand that inside of every Classic Good Girl (CGG) is a Sleeping Dragon.

A dragon that is fierce, brutally honest and protective.
The dragon is sleeping because it is under the spell of the patriarchy.
If you let the dragon out, you will lose jobs, relationships, comforts, illusions of safety, you will change.

Change = Metaphorical Death.

And we’ve been taught that death is something to fear when actually is is what we can count on.
What is often forgotten is that Death leads to Rebirth.
We fear change as much as we fear death.
We fear death as much as we fear change.

This becomes quite interesting when you take a moment to consider death and change are the two things promised to you every moment of every day. When you allow your sleeping dragon within to awaken, you come to understand that everyday you have an opportunity to shed your skin and leave the day behind as father sun goes to sleep and mother moon awakens.

If you don’t question the powers at be, welcome to your award of CGG.
Here you will be given the comforts of blending in and following the crowd.
Forgetting the medicine of the cycles and circles of life.
The wisdom of the Goddess buried.
The language of your soul will be foreign to you and staying in line becomes your every motive.

This is the quest of the patriarchy.

However, once you begin your own quest of feeling the beat of your drum, and learn the language of your soul...
That's when the magic happens.

You will confuse the people with sleeping dragons and CGGS.
Because you will be embracing the inevitable circle of rebirth, life, death.

Maiden.
Mother.
Crone.

You'll be embracing the death of who you once were for the sake of who you are becoming.

And who you are becoming is the awakened, mystical, powerful dragon.
You are becoming your own Medicine.
And one of the most healing things you could offer all of creation is to be you.
That's it.

How would you dress if you didn’t look to others approval?
How would you ask for what you want, what you need?
What would you do if someone couldn’t rise up to meet you?
Would you lower your standards and your vibration as the CGG would?
Or would you let yourself rise from the ashes of a relationship destined to burn.

How would you speak?
How would you spend your time?
What would you eat/consume?
How would you adorn yourself?
What and how would you celebrate?

Because to truly be you, and not the persona of you you keep on the surface for safety, means you are tethered to your soul.

Your soul speaks clearly, precisely and right on time.
You have nothing left to do but follow the callings of your soul.
One whisper, one scream at a time.

You begin to live a soul-led life.
Your compass shines and your true north awaits.
You forge your path, dragon no longer sleeping.
You are empowered, reclaimed, you remember who you’ve always been.

The good girl cries inside and you pick her up.

You hold her close to your heart and tell her, there’s nothing to fear. As you’ve become the dragon.

You've become the medicine you always needed.
And all of the other women walking around stuck in girlhood, playing the role of the CGG, start to wake up their dragons, too.

One-by-one you make a difference.
You walk your talk.
You BECOME your path.

You lead by example.

One-by-one you heal the world by being yourself.

That.
That, at this time ~ is a healer living a soul-led life.
May these words reach you when you need them most.

Love,
Kelly
